Racist Youth

Sonya Carson was poorly educated and could barely read and write.

She wanted her sons to escape the poverty that had plagued their lives by working hard and having a good education. She constantly encouraged them to try their best. To never give up; never settle for less than they can be; and, that they had the same opportunity as other children to be successful.

The boys were struggling in school and Ben was failing 5th grade. Sonya decided to assign extra work in addition to their normal studies. Reading was a priority, and Ben became an avid reader with a keen interest in science and medicine.

Sonya’s plan to help her boys paid off ! Ben graduated at the top of his class and was awarded a full scholarship to Yale University. He then went on to Medical School and earned a degree in Neurosurgery; and, an internship at the

Graduated with HONORS prestigious Johns Hopkins University Hospital.
